How To Speed Up Firefox 4 - Tricks And Tips

1. Always use the latest version of Firefox

Each new Firefox update brings small improvements in performance, which can together do much to the browser for better performance. So do not ignore the updates. By default, Firefox will automatically download and install the minor updates, the point that even if he has to go for updates on important points for you. Keep checking to take control of high-Firefox-Update for new updates from time to while.By the way, if you do not mind a few bugs here and there I will recommend to download the latest version of Firefox Beta 4 from here . It is still nowhere as fast as Chrome or Opera, but works much better than Firefox 3.6 (0.8) on my netbook. The obvious compromise sometimes contain bugs and incompatibilities with most add-ons (the release of both are determined depending on the version of the main axes).

2. Put your profile or Start Over

Have you noticed how Firefox very quickly at first, and begins to decrease with time? This is no different than what happened with Windows and is characterized by the constant accumulation of information in your Firefox profile.

If Firefox be easy to become too slow, can be a good idea to start from scratch to restore your existing profile or create a new profile.

3. Judgement of the people or topics that you use

Since 3.6, Firefox supports two types of "Skins" - indigenous issues in all rules, and arms. If you, the better and used instead the question of values. It is simply the default settings "Strata" is the theme "Issues" tab in Tools -> Plugins. The switch immediately if you are a person uses and requires a reboot if you use a complete title.

4. Set a higher priority for firefox.exe

He is a murderer, and uncomfortable at the same time. Recently, one of the Firefox browser memory efficiently been there, but in netbooks like the browser feels almost sacrifice in the performance of memory, to keep it under control.

You can make your way, of course with the Windows Task Manager. Make sure Firefox is running, then right-click the taskbar and select Start Task Manager. " Jump on the Processes tab and look for firefox.exe process. Right-click it and select "Priority" to "above normal." With a choice between "real time" "high" or is not recommended because it can run much tax system and cripple the performance of other programs.
This will ensure that Firefox has a higher priority for CPU cycles than other services that are not Windows (usually set to normal priority) hold, and thus the browser is running much smoother. The problem is that you repeat this process every time you open Firefox, but it is a very unfortunate not to avoid:

* You learn not to close Firefox. If you minimize surf the Web instead of closing Firefox. The loss of memory that Firefox uses for days before either were connected, do not worry.
* Instead of closing the plant through the winter. Hibernate mode, all settings and windows before turning the system off and returns it as after the passage of the netbook. This ensures that Firefox is still floating in the computer's memory (as it is not closing) with an "above normal" priority.

This is obviously not a foolproof method, and needs to close and restart Firefox often than other browsers.

In addition, as you can imagine, the performance of other applications can run simultaneously suffer a bit more like Firefox is the love of your processor.

5. Hardware acceleration enabled (Firefox 4 Beta only)

Firefox 4 is ready hardware acceleration in Windows Vista Direct2D / 7 support. This allows Firefox to use your unit (GPU) instead of the CPU for intensive research, with the last hurdle and happy.

Of course, the Intel GPU is terrible in most Netbooks, but still strong enough to handle Web browsing. This feature is standard in the current beta of Firefox 4 disabled, but can be activated in a few easy steps

* In a new tab, type about: config. Click on "I'll be careful, I promise" to overcome the warning.
* In the "Filter" box (below the tabs), type "make" to show only the values that have the floor.
* From entries 7 or less, and gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled double-click it to find its value to "true" (which is false by default) change.
* Fashion mozilla.widget.render Below you double-click it and change the value of -1 to 6 in the box. Click OK.
* This is it! Close the file, restart Firefox and re-focus on their work.

6. Unwanted flash and scripts

This noscript direct conflict with the next point, but for some reason. Some sites have tons of garbage and Flash content, you need Javascript kill, so here is the Atom processor. So, I fully expect to be installed NoScript add-on for Firefox, which blocks scripts and flash content by default on all sides.
Sure, you can choose to whitelist websites that can not operate without these elements (such as YouTube or miniclip) and maintain intimidating to white lists of new websites that you have from your visit, but the final reward is - response time for Firefox and a fast processor.

7. Use as few accessories as possible

NoScript Firefox keeps your lower processor. However, most dietary supplements really can help. If you need an extension, are not install it on your netbook Firefox. Sync Firefox is my only much needed add-on for you, it might be different. In any case, try to keep the number of shims under 3 years.

8. Say NO to HD video streaming

HD Video

Shit graphics Atom netbook and Intel were not designed to consume media in high definition. Keep this in mind while a video streaming (from YouTube or other sites). Always use the lowest quality - and forget about everything that is above 360P. Obviously not the fault of Firefox - it's just that netbooks can not handle HD streaming.
